It provides a user-friendly interface for managing the transfer of files between a local computer (client) and a remote server. Here are the general steps to connect using an File Transfer Protocol client:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"download-and-install-an-ftp-client\">Download and Install an FTP Client:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There are several FTP clients available, both free and paid. Some popular ones include FileZilla, WinSCP, Cyberduck. These details typically include:<br>Hostname or IP Address: The address of the File Transfer Protocol server you want to connect to.<br>Port Number: The default File Transfer Protocol port is 21, but the server may use a different port.<br>Protocol: File Transfer Protocol can use either (insecure) or FTPS (Secure) which is encrypted. (Same as your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webhostingdelhi.net.in\/vps-hosting-delhi\/\">hosting<\/a> account username or the FTP account you created)<br>Password: Your FTP password. (Your FTP account password)<br>Choose Connection Type:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>There are two main connection modes:<\/strong> Active and Passive. In most cases, you can leave it on the default passive mode. You can navigate through directories and transfer files by dragging and dropping them between the local and remote directories.<br>Disconnect:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Upload Files Using FileZilla<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Use the <strong>Local Site<\/strong> area of FileZilla to locate the folder containing the files you want to upload. The <strong>Remote Site <\/strong>is where your <a href=\"https:\/\/www.webhostingdelhi.net.in\/vps-hosting-delhi\/\">hosting<\/a> files are located. It is a representation of your FileManager.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-gallery has-nested-images columns-default is-cropped wp-block-gallery-5 is-layout-flex wp-block-gallery-is-layout-flex\">\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"375\" height=\"328\" data-id=\"75\" src=\"https:\/\/webhostingdelhi.net.in\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/remote-site.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-75\" srcset=\"https:\/\/webhostingdelhi.net.in\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/remote-site.png 375w, https:\/\/webhostingdelhi.net.in\/tutorials\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/12\/remote-site-300x262.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 375px) 100vw, 375px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Note that the contents for each folder are displayed just below the <strong><em>Local Site<\/em><\/strong> and<strong> <em>Remote Site<\/em><\/strong> areas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click and drag your file from the <em>Local Site<\/em> side onto the <em>Remote Site<\/em> side (<em>Note that you can also select multiple files at a time<\/em>).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upload progress is displayed in the <strong>bottom area <\/strong>of FileZilla.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Upload is complete once your uploaded files are listed on the <strong><em>Remote Site<\/em><\/strong> side.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Prevent FTP Blacklisting<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>As a security precaution against malicious attackers, Domain.com&#8217;s File Transfer Protocol servers will blacklist the IP address of users that have an excessive number of consecutive failed login attempts. This blacklist prevents the user from gaining access to Domain.com&#8217;s File Transfer Protocol servers, even if the user begins using the correct login credentials.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To avoid the risk of being blacklisted, make sure that you keep your File Transfer Protocol client&#8217;s login credentials up to date. Additionally, we recommend that you limit the number of re-connection attempts inside of your FTP client.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To limit the number of re-connection attempts inside of FileZilla:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<pre class=\"wp-block-code\"><code>Go to Edit.\nClick on Settings.\nIn the window that appears, we recommend that you enter the following settings:\n    Maximum number of retries: 3\n    The delay between failed login attempts: 300<\/code><\/pre>\n\n\n\n<p>When you&#8217;re finished with your File Transfer Protocol session, make sure to disconnect from the server to free up resources. Most clients have a disconnect or logout option.<br>Keep in mind that some File Transfer Protocol servers may have specific settings or require additional security measures.
